Today my fabrics arrived for my next project. A Baby Girl Quilt in Pinks

 

 This morning I was quilting the top for my UFO #5 and did not notice that a package arrived at my front door.  It was fabric I had ordered for a Baby Quilt for a Baby Girl for a client.  Oh my! all the pretty soft pinks and lavenders.  Now the fun begins.  I chose a lovely center panel and some soft pinks and lavenders to complement it.  Now on to the planning of this lovely quilt.

My February Finish will be!!!!!

I have chosen the "Choo Choo Dinoz" baby quilt as my February
Finish this year.  It is mostly pieced and ready for the borders, then needs to sandwiched, quilted and binding applied.  Today I am 6 days post-op from my recent back Surgery that was done on Jan 27th.  I had wanted to finish it before the 25th for my little great grandson Emmett but because of my talents were needed to do some tailoring for the Mother of the Bride and myself I wasn't able to finish it.  I did bring it with me to show Mommy, (the Brides Sister), how far I had gotten with it.  but with the prep for the wedding and surgery has put me behind schedule by 2 - 3 weeks.  that's OK life does get in the way sometimes when we least expect it... The pattern for this baby quilt is a little more difficult than I had imagined but I did enjoy working with the fabrics.            

Baby Quilt on the make - My Quilting Projects

This Cute! Pattern from Studio E Fabrics was a challenge to work with. Not a pattern for a beginner quilter.  "Choo Choo Dinoz" is made using a panel of baby dinoz and some great fabrics.  I was asked to complete this quilt by my granddaughter Bobby Jean for her little boy Emmett.  It is ready for borders now and I will be backing it with minky fabric which is soft and cuddly.  Just what a little guy needs.  I am hoping to have this done by the end of next week.  

Then on to my next project - a quilt for my great grandson Ethan.  "Dr Seuss" - I completed the quilt top during the early summer and can't wait to complete it.  During my travels this past summer I was able to get a Cat in the Hat panel that I want to use for the backing at the Eagle Creek Quilt Shop in Shakopee, MN.  

this past week I was able to deliver my "Winnie the Pooh" baby quilt for my granddaughter Amelia.  I had also completed the quilt top earlier this summer and finished quilting the top just this past week.  I enjoyed making this pattern.  it was a disappering nine patch using Winnie the Pooh 7 1/2" squares along with 30's fabric.  In my travels this summer I was able to pick up Winnie The Pooh fabric for $4 a pound in a great little shop - the West Virginia Quilt Shop in barboursville W VA

 

A new year of quilting has begun for me

It's a new year and time to review those projects that I completed and those that need to be finished.  A nice sunny cold day outside.  the wind chill is horrific but it promises to be a warmer day today.  in the upper 20's lol - I just took my car in for an oil change and it was a wicked short walk to my car after it was finished due to the winds.  Brrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!  I am seriously contemplating moving to a warmer climate by years end.  Where I'm not sure but I do need it to be somewhere warmer year round.  My rheumatoid arthritis is kicking ass this winter and it hasn't even started! 
But on to warmer thoughts of quilts, sewing and relaxing in my sewing studio! 
My first project I want to finish this month is the Baby Quilt I am making for my newest granddaughter Amelia.  I just have to finish quilting it since the binding is already done.  I can see it now sitting on my sewing machine - almost ready, a small project but a perfct one to start the new year! 

Then I will review my finished projects for 2013

Working on Baby Quilts this week

Choo Choo Dinoz Pattern

This Summer I was able to piece 4 baby quilts and this week I started to quilt the Winnie the Pooh quilt that I am making for my Grandbaby Amelia who is due in November.  I also started to piece together a very cute quilt for my Great Grand Baby Emmet who arrived last week 10/3/2013 - My daughter Marie gave me the quilt fabric and pattern late summer but I was going away going on my 3rd road trip and didn't get home till late Sept.  What a pretty quilt pattern from Studio E Fabrics named Choo Choo Dinoz.  The panel with coordinating fabrics are colorful and the Dinoz Characters are adorable.  I finished cutting apart the panel today and pieced together the 1st section.  tomorrow I will work on the second section.

Wow I'm home and still enjoying my summer

I can't believe my working trip is over and I've been home a week already.  I have had so much fun on my trip and in between.  Life is Good and God is Great.  I feel very Blessed.  Sat August 17th I attended a fun Baby Shower for my 31st grandbaby coming in November.  Proud Papa Earl & Proud Mamma Rikki were excited and the food was the best ever.  Aunty Beth & Nan did a Great job putting it all together.  I was so excited to be able to share the Baby Quilt I am making for little Amelia.  This is the top I finished at my quilt retreat this past July.  I have it ready to Quilt and plan to have it done by the time little baby "Amelia" arrives in November.
